A Perfectly Imperfect Christmas
An Australian Christmas magical realism collection
Dive into the heart of an Australian Christmas: hot, imperfect, emotional and just a little bit magical.
A Perfectly Imperfect Christmas follows Marjorie, Olivia, Sarah and Ruth through four connected stories about family, tradition, memory and the beauty of imperfection.
Each woman discovers that the true spirit of Christmas does not live in flawless decorations or perfect celebrations, but in love, memory, creativity and authentic connection.
This Australian Christmas collection blends women’s fiction and magical realism for readers who like summer holidays, family emotion and stories told from more than one point of view.

Behind the Story
Renee wanted to write a Christmas story that was not a romance and was not all about snow. She wanted to represent the hot summer Christmases her family had while living on the Gold Coast. She chose four points of view across the same couple of days and added a little magic. This was her first foray into magical realism, and she had a lot of fun with it. The editing was less fun, because shared scenes had to stay consistent across multiple points of view. She is not quite ready to tackle that again for a while, but she does think she will return to magical realism one day.
