From Reader to Writer
My journey didn't start at a desk, but in the pages of other people's books. I launched this website back in 2014 as a book blog to share my latest reads. But after a few months of reviewing, I caught the bug myself. I dove into a month-long writing challenge and discovered two things: I actually had stories to tell, and I had a lot to learn about the craft!
Many online courses, craft books, and wonderful critique partners later, I went from struggling to hit a 500-word count to publishing over 70 titles.
Stories with Humour and Heart
I’m a mother of two and the wife of a veteran (the hero of my own real-life love story). While my early work was heavily inspired by our years in the military and my love of swing dancing, my catalog has grown to include everything from sweet romance and women’s fiction to beginner chapter books and picture books.
A note on the romance: I like to say my stories are sweet, but not necessarily "clean and wholesome." I might drop the odd swear word here and there, but when things start to get hot and heavy in the romance department, I tend to slam the door and run away blushing. If you like "closed-door" romance with plenty of chemistry and a bit of a spark, you’re in the right place.
Beyond the Page
My love for stories eventually led me to the world of audio. I learned how to narrate my own audiobooks and found so much joy in the process that I now write guides to help other authors find their voice in audio, too.
Today, I am the founder and lead author of Hey Said Renee Publishing, where I curate stories that I hope leave you with a smile.
