Dancing on the Grass

Rockabilly Romance, Book 1

Libby Summers has been married, but she has never been in love.

Not unless you count the all-encompassing passion she has for her four-year-old daughter, Chloe. Carpenter by day and musician by night, Paul White only has time for lovin̢۪, not for love. The only strings he likes are the ones on his double bass.

Paul and Libby meet at a local music festival when he uses his tradie skills to rescue her daughter. Will the mutual sparks be enough to burn down the door to Libby̢۪s heart? And will Paul ever realise that a musical instrument might be classed as baggage, but little girls are not?

Dancing on the Grass is the first book in the Rockabilly Romance trilogy, a sweet romantic comedy novella with adorable kids, music festival charm and a heartfelt single mum romance.

Behind the Story

The idea for Dancing on the Grass came from the setting first. Renee set the book at a house she used to live in at Piggabeen, NSW, rented from her sister-in-law. Her nephew used to run a local indie music festival in the front paddock called Pig Day Out, and Renee thought it was the perfect setting for a sweet romance with a single mum and a cute little kid. The back fence always kept her own kids safe, but if children were running around in the paddock, the creek running through the property would absolutely have raised her anxiety. That mix of music, family, romance and parent worry became the heart of the story.
